It’s 2016 and with popular social media apps like Facebook, Snapchat, Periscope, Instagram and Twitter, you are bound to experience some type of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) every now and then. I know I do! And because of the instant online access to celebrities, world events and social happenings it’s impossible not to feel like you missed out on something! Right?! But lately I’ve been thinking about all of the awesome things & places around me that I’ve been missing out on because I’ve been purposefully avoiding a certain place: Los Angeles, CA. And I’m tired of missing out! I’ve lived about 30 – 45 mins outside of L.A. my entire life but have had no interest in exploring it! That is until recently…
You see, because I’m an introvert I naturally gravitate towards calm and scenic atmospheres. I’ve never been super social, a party/club goever, or into large crowds. So even the thought of traffic and congestion of a big city stresses me out and just isn’t my thing. Long story-short, I’m not a city gal! Or so I thought!
Over the past two years though, becoming a family of three has encouraged us to get out and to explore outside of this comfort zone. Because ironically, as a Stay At Home Mom and Mompreneur, staying home with my toddler and hubby 24/7 also isn’t my thing. Blame it on my island roots, I just can’t stay cooped up at home, I must be out learning and exploring something. And the city is literally where all of the family fun is at these days! And to our surprise along this new journey we have discovered so much beauty, nature, culture, and opportunities for learning in Los Angeles. Like with our latest Adventure as a family to the L.A. Zoo & Botanical Gardens this past week.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side during this little excursion (It was so hot!) but we had a great time nonetheless seeing all of the beautiful animals! We came prepared with hats, umbrella’s, and water, and it was the perfect place for me to wear my new Crochet Neckline Top from Pink Blush (a trendy online boutique that has so many cute styles for women and moms-to-be). Our favorite part of the day was seeing the giraffes and elephants hang out and snack a bit. We had no idea how beautiful and big the L.A. Zoo grounds where! Such a fun family day!
We are so looking forward to exploring L.A. more as a family for the rest of this summer. If you live in the area or have visited recently, what are some of your favorite L.A. family activities? Write them in the comment section below! 🙂
